A Flexible and Inclusive Approach
The Kearsney Boarding Experience
Kearsney boarding takes place within a safe, supportive environment – one with a rich sense of community. Most of our boarders are weekly boarders, opting for a mix of family time and the experience, structure, fun and brotherhood of boarding.
Kearsney attracts pupils from all over the country and the world, and full (termly) boarding is also offered. On any given weekend about 100 boarders will stay in on Saturday night and spend Sunday on campus. All boarders are welcome to stay in on the weekend, or to take exeats to stay with family or friends. Sunday excursions are organised for termly boarders and all those staying in.
Dayboys are integrated into the boarding experience as much as possible, joining House activities, dining with housemates, and even staying overnight to enjoy the structured academic setting or the camaraderie before a big match.
Boarding Houses
Our boarding high school has four senior boarding Houses – Finningley, Gillingham, Pembroke and Sheffield. All Grade 8 boys live in Haley House where they are in the care of a resident Housemaster, duty staff and Grade 12 prefects. From their Grade 9 year, the boys move to one of our four senior boarding Houses.

Our boys’ needs are well taken care of in terms of variety, nutrition and quantity. Nutritional analysis by our professional caterers ensures all dietary needs of growing boys are met. Fresh salads, fruit and freshly baked rolls accompany most meals. Each House has its own area within the dining hall, and dayboys are included in lunch and morning tea.

Please note that this service does not run on the first day of a new term. For more information and to find out how to register for this service, please click below.
