Developing Ethical, Responsible Citizens
Kearsney’s Honour Code
Grounded In Values
The Kearsney Honour Code complements our school values system, helping every boy develop the accountability, responsibility and self-discipline expected within our school community.
A key element of Kearsney College’s vision is to contribute to our country by developing ethical citizens, while our mission calls on boys to cultivate a deep respect for both humanity and creation. These ideals are reflected in the College’s core values of integrity, respect, honesty and humility. Guided by these principles, boys are encouraged not only to understand what is honourable, but also to have the courage and conviction to act accordingly.
The Kearsney Boys’ Pledge
As a pupil of Kearsney College, I embrace the virtues of honesty and integrity, and I believe that these qualities are an essential part of Kearsney.
We are boys of integrity, honesty, and honour. We do not cheat, lie, steal or bully and do not tolerate those who do. We respect each other, value diversity, and reject all forms of racism, gender bias, prejudice and discrimination. We boys uphold all the honourable traditions and values of the College.
I acknowledge the existence of the Honour Council and support its function, role and decisions and I will, to the best of my ability, promote the Honour Code in myself and others.
Sanctions for Violating the Honour Code
A violation of the Honour Code will result in standard disciplinary action and punishment. Honour Code violations may also be referred to the Honour Council under the supervision of a Deputy Headmaster and/or a member of the
Student Affairs Committee (SAC).
