Grounded In Faith

Spiritual Life

A Christian Foundation at Kearsney

The beautiful Kearsney Chapel, and what it represents, forms the physical and spiritual heart of the College.

At Kearsney College, we believe that a well-rounded education should include opportunities for the boys to engage with matters of faith, religion and spirituality. As a Christian school with a Methodist ethos and closely linked to the Methodist Church of Southern Africa, the boys have the opportunity to grow in their faith.

Kearsney’s Spiritual Programme

A full-time Chaplain directs the spiritual programme of the College, which includes devotions twice a week, with a full weekly chapel service.

The Student Christian Association meets weekly, and the House Fellowship Groups usually meet one evening a week in the Houses.

The School Chaplain organises confirmation classes, meetings and rallies with other schools and mission opportunities.

Boys attend Religious Education (Chaplain’s) classes, where a broad range of topics and issues are explored, extending beyond the study of religion alone.

Our hope is to help the boys encounter God, as seen in Jesus, while still engaging respectfully with a range of faith perspectives.

Policy on Spirituality at Kearsney College

The College’s policy on spirituality affirms its commitment to the spiritual development of all boys and welcomes and respects boys and staff from all denominations and faith perspectives.
